‘Extanz Volume I: An Epic on Power’ is a gritty dive into the underworld of dance. The ugly, destructive, and problematic power structures that keep dancers sick and are rotting the field from the inside-out.

Extanz is a raging cry from the depths of the dance world, collated from hundreds of interviews with dancers; This first solo iteration will leave you shaken to the core and wondering if you’ll ever see dance in the same way!

Katrina Elizabeth is an endurance-based movement artist based in Tāmaki Makaurau. She was born and raised in Germany and the U.S.A. and immigrated to Aotearoa in 2020.

Her choreographies explore power, privilege, post-capitalist malaise, and feminine rage. Since 2020 she has worked with Footnote Dance NZ, Black Grace Dance Company, Dance Plant Collective, and Mary-Jane O’Reilly. Her work was presented in The Performance Arcade 2020 + 2021, Tempo Dance Festival, Experimental Dance Week Aotearoa, Auckland Fringe, and NZ Fringe.

She has been in residence as part of MAP’s digital residency 2020, and Basement Theatre’s Ideas in Residence Programme 2021. Katrina’s solo: ‘Soliloquy in Sweat’ won the ‘Best in NZ Fringe’, ‘Best Dance’, and ‘Best Performance’ awards in 2021.
